Automate our Google Analytics Best Practices setup with Analytics Toolkit

Now, as you noticed, setting up each of the goals one-by-one and the filters shown in our Google Analytics setup instructions can be a complete DRAG.  We have an easier way.  Analytics-Toolkit.

1) Login to https://www.analytics-toolkit.com/

First you need to add the new GA Properties to Analytics Toolkit 1) Click on the upper right hand side and drop down to Manage Properties

1) On the left-hand side, find the appropriate account that you have been working on and click on the appropriate checkbox. Before exiting scroll to the very bottom…

1) At the very bottom of the page click on Apply Changes

1) At the top Analytics Tools header, drop down and select Analytics Copy/Paste

From the Copy from Column:

  1. Google account: B_MashMetrics Enhanced Install PREVIEW
  2. Property: Select _HOLD ALL PREVIEW
  3. View: All Web Site Data
  4. Make sure “Copy all goals..” checkbox is checked

From the Copy to Column:

  1. Select B_MashMetrics Enhanced Install PREVIEW
  2. Property: ENHANCED – form.url_2
  3. Create a New View: ENHANCED – form.url_2

Under Options (Screenshot below)
1) Leave Copy View Settings checked
2) Leave Copy View Filters checked
3) Select “Preserve ALL currently present filters”
4) Check “Copy View goals”
5) Select Overwrite existing goal slots
6) Click “Copy & Paste”

1) Check to make sure View settings are copied successfully (15 Goals)
2) Check filters are copied successfully (>29)
